Nigel Cabourn Hospital Pant Hemp Denim Indigo
Nigel Cabourn Hospital Hemp Denim Indigo, a wide cut hemp linen trouser.
The Hospital Pant design is based on the set of clothing loaned to injured British soldiers during the war, their biggest feature being the garment construction - easy wearable pieces that will aid the recovery of the soldiers. The fit is oversized and relaxed, designed to be worn with braces alongside the drawstring waist.
The natural neppy hemp fabric used for these pants is still a rarely used fabric due to the complexity of the manufacturing process, however the durability of the fabric will withstand decades of wear and the indigo dye will develop a special patina over time.
Please note that (raw) denim in (natural) indigo might bleed on light surfaces and textiles such as white sneakers or an off-white sofa. We advise you to turn the jeans inside out and soak it in a bucket with lukewarm water for 30 minutes, before the first actual wear. This way you rinse out a bit of leftover starch and indigo plus it takes out the final bits of shrinkage. The bleeding of indigo, as it is known as, is a characteristic of quality denim and will also occur during the early stages of wear.
