YS Work Shirt Yellow, a new style shirt jacket by Yoko Sakamoto.

The shirt jacket, made based on a classic work jacket, incorporates the details of a shirt moderately and is finished in a light woven fabric and has a somewhat ambiguous balance, like a work jacket and also like a shirt, with front pockets and chest pockets, a feature of typical convenience.

Original material woven on old-style looms at a historic mill in the Bishu region. 120/2 cotton in the warp, compact 12/3 cotton spun in the weft, 60/1 ramie and 44/1 linen in the weft. Weft: 60/1 ramie, 44/1 linen. The warp yarns are made of two different cotton yarns of different counts, which gives a three-dimensional stripe pattern to the plain weave. By alternating one ramie and one linen thread in the weft, the fabric has moderate firmness and a good expression of thread knots. The weave is woven at a high density to the limit, so the fabric is robust in contrast to its delicate appearance. The stiffness of the linen dissolves with repeated wear and the fabric develops a smooth, antique-like texture.

Yoko Sakamoto started her unisex brand in 2016. The designer emphasizes to bring the nature of the material to life in her clothing; designing clothing without interfering the original qualities and properties of the materials and the silhouette. She values actual wearing comfort while focusing on craftsmanship and manual procedures for designs, which result in her distinctive and unique style.
