A reproduction of silk lawn fabric that was once often seen on luxury undergarments in China. The short staple silk fiber results in a extra-soft yet crisp fabric with a mellow sheen. The print is a fountain pen sketch of vintage medical tools realized by Xi’an based artist Yuan Ye.
Design: An elegant short sleeved shirt fitted with a slender mandarin collar, the pocket jetting are made with pure silk twist tapes for extra strength. The back is cut slightly dropped to give the shirt a loose yet controlled silhouette. The side vents are reinforced with tape folded in an intricate manner.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments.
