A unique development by the Woolmark company, the Optim Wool is a 100% wool waterproof fabric. By stretching the wool fiber using special equipment and then letting it set and shrink during the finishing process, Optim wool can reach extreme density previously unattainable in wool weaving, giving it waterproofness unsurpassed by any other natural fabric. Being 100% wool, Optim Wool also has much better breathability, drape as well as longevity and far less environmental impact than its synthetic counterparts.
Design: A technical jacket created around the idea of vintage hunter's coats with all-around gusset around the armhole. The cut is called the 'Hubertus', the patron saint of hunters. The adjustment system of the jacket is based on the idea of "wrapping". Including a spiral snap button closure at the cuff and wrap closure at the neck. The slanted chest pockets are inspired by early Elsa Schiaparelli (Italian fashion designer early 1900s) tailored jackets and hosts two extra zipped pockets underneath. The collar hides a collapsable hood, which also has a set of snap buttons for size adjustment.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
