Motiv Diode Jacket Silk Hemp Salmon
Motiv Diode Jacket Silk Hemp Salmon, a reinterpretation of 1970s Mandarin style worker jackets.
A fabric that really reveals silk’s hard wearing properties, the high-twist silk yarn is blended with hemp then woven tightly, it combines structural strength with poetic fluidity. The subtle difference of dye saturation between the two fibers also creates a subtle chambray effect.
Design: A work jacket modeled after garments worn by state-owned factory workers in Beijing in the 1970s. The stand collar in combination with subtly tailored details such as the chest pocket and shoulder seam finishing makes it a versatile garment for both work and play. The name is an homage to Motiv's former studio location, the Hongxia Cinema, which previously hosted workers from China’s first semiconductor factory.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
