Motiv Authentic BD Shirt Cotton/Silk High Density Poplin Midnight, a hommage to the classic button down shirt.

Woven by a silk specialty mill in Hangzhou, China’s historical silk town, this fabric blends cotton with raw tussah silk. It is densely woven for structure and wrinkle resistance, featuring a rich silk pile from untreated tussah silk. The fabric is washed for extended periods, resulting in a soft handle.

Design: A hommage to the classic button down shirt. Drafted according to an original 1950s instruction, it is cut with ample volume on the bodice and fitted armholes. Both the back yoke and cuffs feature gathering for freedom of movement. The generously cut collar features hidden button tabs, giving it a particularly clean look.

Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
