Hul Le Kes Toorop Patchwork Jacket Indigo, a marvelous, upcycled workwear jacket featuring handstitched mending details. Made by Hul Le Kes in the Netherlands.
The Toorop Patchwork Jacket is crafted from upcycled cotton, featuring extensive hand-stitching by the Recovery Studio team. With its easy, unisex fit and visible mending details, the jacket embodies comfort, craftsmanship, and the beauty of imperfection, a true reflection of Hul le Kes’ philosophy of mindful (re)creation.
Intricate hand-stitching and visible mending techniques, developed in the Hul le Kes Recovery Studio, add depth and texture to each garment. Every pair is truly one-of-a-kind, bearing the personal marks of both the textiles and the makers. A celebration of resilience and renewal, this jacket offers an understated yet outspoken statement.
Charley Toorop (1891–1955) was a painter of fierce independence and raw expressiveness. Her work reveals a deep connection to everyday life, marked by resilience, realism, and an unpolished beauty. Much like Toorop, Hul le Kes embraces imperfection and authenticity beyond conventions.
Hul le Kes, founded by Sjaak Hullekes and Sebastiaan Kramer, focuses strongly on using upcycled materials and traditional techniques. Over 95% of the materials used are sourced from post-consumer and post-production waste. Their pieces are crafted in Arnhem, the Netherlands, where their studio is based. All the garments of Hul le Kes are made by their wonderful team of trained craftspeople and participants recovering from mental health challenges. By blending skill-building with emotional healing, Hul le Kes demonstrates that fashion can be a powerful tool for social change.
