Evan Kinori Single Pleat Pant Organic Cotton Indigo/Sumi Ink
Evan Kinori Single Pleat Pant Organic Cotton Indigo/Sumi Ink, a relaxed taper fit trouser in a natural dye.
A slightly relaxed, subtle tapered single pleat pant designed by San Francisco-based designer Evan Kinori. Versatility in all its glory, these everyday trousers feature 1/2" pleats, quarter top front pockets, single 'hand style' welt pocket on the back right side, French seams, a button fly and single needle belt loops.
The cloth used for this garment is made from organic cotton, woven in Japan and has undergone a natural dye in sumi ink and indigo. Sumi Ink is a Japanese black ink, often known for its usage in calligraphy. This particular Sumi Ink has a blueish tone, complimenting the indigo dye as well, and is known as Seiboku.
Evan Kinori is a American designer based in San Francisco, where is studio is based and the sampling and making of garments happens. I've been following Evan since he started out in 2015 and, in fact, I still have a copy of his very first newsletter in my inbox. Evan's calm approach to garment design and his overall feel for esthetics resonate deeply with my own views and values. His focus and dedication to designing a small, almost intimate, collection of versatile and functional pieces, are a pleasant shift away from modern-day bulk productions and ongoing collection cycles. If I were to choose one word that would describe Evan Kinori and his work, it would be: stillness.
