Newspeak Oversized Long Coat Thornproof Wool Dark Brown, a heavy wool long coat designed for the cold Winters.
This piece is a recognizable menswear staple but equally great on women, its classic shape being warped by the exaggerated volume it carries. The raglan sleeve is lowered in depth, creating a kimono-like silhouette when fastened with the belt at the waist. The sleeve has a pre-curved seam at the elbow, forming a rounded profile along the arms, when viewed from the side. The coat also features an oversized collar with a detachable elongated storm flap that wraps around the neck, two flap pockets and a back split on the back.
Made from a heavy English Thornproof wool, developed by Marton Mills in England, and designed for heavy wear and ideal for the cold weather. The belt construction allows for a variety in how tight you want it to be around the waist. The button system on the belt is unconventional yet practical.
Newspeak Studio was founded in 2023 by Stef Reijnierse and Veronica Perjan. Based on extensive research of "Western Culture" tailoring and workwear garments from the 1870s onwards, their aim is to continuously redefine elegant nonchalance that withstand the test of time. Their atelier is based in The Hague, Netherlands.
