Motiv Zyklon Coat Aqua, inspired by WWI trench coats, made from a salt-shrunk Japanese nylon.
A Japanese nylon fabric, salt shrunk for extra density, giving it a silk-like luster as well as a slightly irregular texture. The fabric is then combined with a coated linen fabric for richness in texture.
Design: Inspired by original WWI trench coat drafts, this coat retains all the utilitarian features of the original including large envelope pockets and a storm collar. The front closure shape were taken from French military weather coats for its dramatic qualities. A special gusset is added to the undersleeve to facilitate movement.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
