Motiv Robert Trouser Tussah Silk Herringbone Aubergine, minimalistic style pleated trousers made from tussah silk.

Motiv’s new adventure into the world of Chinese tussah silk, this being a particularly luxurious quality devoid of the “neps” associated with tussah silk. The longer filaments of the yarn ensure even better drape. The natural colored cloth is first made into garments and then intensively dyed into a rich aubergine color.

Design: A minimally designed pair of pleated trousers. The pleats are specially positioned so that the trousers fall in graceful, vertical lines. The rectangular beltloops are positioned to perfectly correspond to the pleats and darts in front and back. A generous turn-up has been added to the hem to further improve the drape of the trousers.

Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
