Motiv’s new adventure into the world of Chinese tussah silk, this being a particularly luxurious quality devoid of the “neps” associated with tussah silk. The longer filaments of the yarn ensure even better drape. The natural colored cloth is first made into garments and then intensively dyed into a rich aubergine color.
Design: A minimal robe jacket featuring a stand collar, concealed placket and oversized postman’s pockets. The single raglan sleeves and asymmetrical pack pleat provide room for movement as well an elegant sense of ease. The collar facing and cuff are made in a contrasting material for rich texture.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
