Motiv Academia Jacket Donegal Russet, a loose fitting Ivy-league inspired jacket.
A “suiting tweed” by the Irish mill Molloy and Sons, this fabric is woven is made of both woolen and worsted yarns. The former providing the richness typically associated with Donegal tweeds, while the latter give the fabric extra structure and shape retention ability necessary for a suit, especially for trousers.
Design: A relaxed twist on an early half belt ivy jacket. The slightly cut-away front quarters and patch pockets give the jacket a nonchalant air. The undercollar is made with a contrast detail which can be worn up with the storm collar fastened.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
