British traditional mill Marling & Evans’ hallmark natural wool quality, this time in a seasonal open plain weave. The high twist worsted yarn gives the fabric a lot of structure as well as excellent wrinkle resistance. The subtle windowpane pattern is the result of selecting different shades of undyed wool, hence the charming, slightly heathered effect.
A more flamboyant iteration to Motiv’s classic 30s cut jackets, cut with “Parisian” fish mout lapels and drawn-in half belt. Through reviving this high-armhole, dartless cut, Motiv is looking to bring back the shape and range of movement from a bygone age, when tailored jackets were worn as a practical garment.
Motiv is an independent design studio from Beijing specialising in original patterns from the 1900s-1950s and converting them into a more functional style and cut. They focus on Tradition for the Future, a neo-classic approach to creating garments. Motiv strictly sources their fabrics from the top level mills in England, Ireland, Belgium, France, China and Japan.
