DuNord x TheConcrete Modified Cargo Pant S/P
DuNord x TheConcrete Modified Cargo Pant S/P, a modified version of a 1950s British military trouser. Handmade in Madrid, using custom-woven French fabric.
Inspired by 1950s British military pants, we’ve decided to make a modified version of this style in a special fabric woven by Manufacture Métis in France. Different than the original style, we’ve left out the rear pockets to prevent any unnecessary bulkiness on the wearer due to the patched pockets on the front panel. Leaving out the rear pockets allows for a smoother look and style without compromising on functional pockets.
The belt loops have a stud-fast system, typical for the original pants and used for artillery belts but now more suitable for a proper leather belt.
The stud-fast system on the belt loops and button fly are custom made for this project.
This beautiful salt & pepper fabric is a reference to old French workwear, and woven by the niche, artisanal mill Manufacture Métis in France. The fabric is a cotton-linen blend in a 380g/m2, making it a nice heavyweight for colder days but still comfortable to wear in Spring and early Summer.
Handmade by workwear tailor Fernando Garcia de la Calera of TheConcrete in Madrid, we managed to develop a timeless piece that embodies the relaxed elegance you normally wouldn’t associate with cargo trousers. Dress it up with a buttoned shirt and heavy jacket, or flip it to casual by wearing it with chunky knitwear.
The maker of the cargo pant is Fernando Garcia de la Calera, the founder of TheConcrete Madrid, who I’ve met years ago and keep an intense working relationship with to develop special collections for Store Du Nord. Fernando is highly regarded for his artisanal craftsmanship and his views on contemporary workwear for men and women. Crafting the garments himself in his atelier in Madrid, by hand and antique machinery, you not only get a very well-made piece of clothing but also a garment that is made to be long-lasting.
